Historic Preservation

Connecticut Daughters participate in various historic preservation projects; from restoring and maintaining CTDAR or chapter-owned properties; to preserving records or awarding others for their preservation efforts; we seek to preserve American history.

Marking a Patriot’s Gravestone

Members are gathered to mark the grave of a newfound Patriot. It is important to mark this grave for historical documentation purposes. In the future, prospective members may use this Patriot to join the DAR.

CTDAR Maintains the Wadsworth Stable for Future Generations

This stable was originally located in downtown Hartford and was moved to this site in 1954. On September 20, 1780, Wadsworth hosted the first meeting between Washington and Rochambeau at his Hartford mansion. During this meeting, Washington’s horses were housed in this stable.

Chapter Revitalizes Forgotten Cemetery

The Wadsworth Chapter, NSDAR, in Middletown, Connecticut, spent many hours clearing debris from the Old North Burying Ground. Gravestones of American Revolutionary War soldiers were then raised and reassembled using preservation protocol.
